SEO stands for search engine optimization and is the process used to improve the volume and yhe quality of the traffic to a web site from search engines via “natural” (”organic” or “algorithmic”) search results for targeted keywords. The activities of optimization of a web site concern all the elements that compose it: url, Layout, graphic, markup, content, technologies of interaction. In sites of large or particularly complex dimensions, in fact, the figure of SEO remains in close contact with the team, requiring specific professionalism that is difficult to find in a single person.
As a marketing strategy for increasing a site relevance, SEO considers how search algorithms work and what people search for. SEO efforts may involve coding, presentation, and structure of a site, as well as fixing problems that could prevent search engine indexing programs from fully spidering a site. Other, more noticeable efforts may include adding unique content to a site, ensuring that content is easily indexed by search engine robots, and making the site more appealing to users. Another class of techniques, known as black hat SEO or spamdexing, use methods such as link farms(group of web sites that all hyperlink to every other page in the group) and keyword stuffing (occurs when a web page is loaded with keywords in the meta tags or in content) that tends to harm search engine user experience. Search engines look for sites that employ these techniques and may remove them from their indexes. |
